Q1. How do your products represent social groups or issues?

My film 'Calorie Counting Is The Only Math I Am Good At' represents the social issue of eating disorders. Eating disorders are a side of the mental health world that are super common- however, there is a lack of awareness around them. As well as a lack of facilities to help young girls cope with their eating disorder.

The internet now is constantly flooding with videos and posts on weight loss or beauty standards or how to look a certain way. Amidst all this, we do not realise how detrimental this kind of content actually is for our sanity. We do not see the negativity behind these beauty standards and wanting to look perfect.

The reason as to why I based my film off an eating disorder was due to how much of these eating disorder related behaviours that I have seen around me on a daily basis - and the fact that we do not even realise how disordered our perception of food and body image is.

My film through depicting imagery of an eating disorder such as Bulimia Nervosa, it gives you an insight into what that beautification perfectionism can do to a young girl. Showing eating disorders in my film was a goal from day one, as I wanted it to be a light way of spreading awareness to the downside of beauty standards.

Q2. How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’?

Q3. How do your products engage with the audience?
